Used the right way, they can help you feel better with few side effects. For example, you may feel less nauseated from chemotherapy cancer treatment if you breathe in ginger vapors. You may be able to fight certain bacterial or fungal infections, including the dangerous MRSA bacteria, with tea tree oil. In one study, tea tree oil was as effective as a prescription antifungal cream in easing symptoms of a fungal foot infection.
Lavender Organic essential oil is one of our most popular oils because of its many, many useful properties. This oil promotes a calm and relaxed mental state, while relieving any stress and nervous tension. Lavender Organic can also help support healthy skin by reducing the appearance of scars, wrinkles, and soothe any other damages like sun exposure or burns.

People take this to try to ease nausea brought on by surgery, chemotherapy, or motion sickness. And sometimes it's used to treat arthritis or other joint pain. But ginger may cause problems with blood clotting, heart rhythms, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels. Check with your doctor before taking this if you are on blood thinners or have diabetes.

I believe that the test results shine a light on lack of quality but more importantly to me, the way they handled this situation is shameful! The way they handled this shines the light on the TRUE intentions of this company. I hope that you look at this with an open mind, this is a predicament that no company should put their trusted members into. Many will choose to turn their heads to this deception and I can understand how much some invested into their products, their business and this company. But in the end, this is something way larger than one person…

Our Organic Peppermint Oil is a hybrid between watermint and spearmint that stimulates and invigorates the senses. Originating in India, but growing widely throughout Europe, North America, and Asia, the peppermint plant is known by many for its fresh, cool, and minty smell. Treat your body to a refreshing and stimulating experience that you won't forget. Organic Peppermint Oil is a valuable addition to any oil collection!
Aniba rosedora, or Brazilian rosewood, is a prized tropical hardwood used in fine furniture applications and in musical instruments, including guitar manufacture.  The essential oil of the species is an important fragrance ingredient and is said to have skin health properties and reportedly has been used by aromatherapists to treat depression. Spikenard oil is derived from a flowering plant of the valerian family and is used in some Ayurvedic preparations, where it goes by the name of Jatamansi.
Pleasantly suitable for an abundance of oral and topical uses, peppermint may be the most versatile essential oil in the world. Literally, there are few issues that it can't help. Possibly the most fascinating aspect of peppermint is that recent research suggests that it is literally antibiotic resistant. According to an article published in the journal Phytomedicine in 2013, “Reduced usage of antibiotics could be employed as a treatment strategy to decrease the adverse effects and possibly to reverse the beta-lactam antibiotic resistance,” due to the powerful effects of peppermint oil. Frances, many of the citrus oils and Rosemary 1,8 cineole can be used for focus. Rub a drop on your forehead and smell it. During the day you’ll be able to smell it sometimes too! For energy you can use Peppermint if you don’t have high blood pressure or babies at home. Rub a drop diluted with a drop of carrier oil (extra virgin olive oil, sesame oil or coconut oil) on your neck or forehead. Smell it also.
There is a wonderful story shared by internationally certified aroma therapist Cristina Proano-Carrion on her blog about this sacred and spiritual essential oil. According to legend, long before the world was born, a young lad named Crosokait was one of the very few humans alive. He fell in love with a young maiden but the love was unrequited. He fell ill with the sadness of rejection and although he called for her many times on his deathbed, she did not come. He uttered these dying words:

A few weeks later, federal agents appeared at doTerra’s Utah headquarters, and began examining the company’s files. “It’s always fun when the F.D.A. shows up on your doorstep,” Hill said. “And they walk into your office and say things like ‘Dr. Hill, you are personally culpable for every single person using these oils.’ These were scary moments.” DoTerra instituted a fifty-person compliance team to scour social-media posts, looking for noncompliant language, and hosted weekly conference calls, helping distributors translate their stories into acceptable language. “We have a whole team using very sophisticated software, whose whole job is to systematically go through and look for potential claims, like ‘frankincense and cancer,’ or ‘doTerra lavender Ambien,’ ” Kirk Jowers, the doTerra vice-president, told me. “Anything suspect that goes up, we try to get it down within twenty-four hours, and we’re very effective.”

Roman chamomile has a beautiful, mild scent that is known for its ability to help unwind, but it is also a powerful anti-inflammatory. It is the ideal choice for red, inflamed or sensitive, acne-prone skin. It is much gentler than tea tree oil, so this bactericide is a good choice for delicate skin and can even be used with an antibacterial carrier oil such as coconut oil to help treat diaper rash and soothe eczema.

Herbs have a variety of uses including culinary, medicinal, and in some cases, spiritual. General usage of the term "herb" differs between culinary herbs and medicinal herbs; in medicinal or spiritual use, any parts of the plant might be considered as "herbs", including leaves, roots, flowers, seeds, root bark, inner bark (and cambium), resin and pericarp.
If an oil is Certified Organic and you use it according to distributor AND reputable 3rd party recommendations then why would you want to or need to “personally visit their farms and view their distillation process”? There are many certified organic EO manufacturers scattered all around the world. To visit them all is preposterous, far fetched and a highly misleading piece of MLM propaganda possibly perpetuated by your own MLM company? Are you saying these hardworking businesses are not worthy of their organic accreditations and do not deserve to sell their products to other companies with an organic ethos – MLM or traditional? Perhaps it is you who “does not understand the EO market place or the blessings of the MLM industry”. It is unfounded and ignorant comments like yours that damage the wonderful MLM industry.
Essential oils have a very small molecular size, which means that their healing properties are easily absorbed by the skin, but should not be ingested. The potency ensures that only a few drops are needed at a time, so a small bottle can last a few years when used sparingly. Most have a shelf life of five to 10 years with the exception of citrus oils, which lose their potency after about two years.

After asking the patients to record their headache severity and associated symptoms every 30 minutes for a total of 2 hours, researchers found that the difference between the controls and treated patients was statistically significant. From 129 headache attacks in the treatment group, 92 responded entirely or partially to lavender. In the control group, 32 out of 68 headache attacks responded to the placebo. (19)
Gary Young, the founder of Young Living, made his first appearance at the convention by riding into the arena on a sled pulled by a team of huskies. (Last year, he flew in on a zip line.) An annual highlight is the announcement of a new oil blend. This year’s concoction, Fulfill Your Destiny, was available to distributors for thirty-four dollars for five millilitres and included black pepper, blue spruce, and frankincense, “which opens up your pineal gland,” Young said from the stage.
Your products, “Thieves,” “Cinnamon Bark,” “Oregano,” “ImmuPower,” “Rosemary,” “Myrtle,” “Sandalwood,” “Eucalyptus Blue,” “Peppermint,” “Ylang Ylang,” “Frankincense,” and “Orange,” are prescription drugs as defined in section 503(b)(1)(A) of the Act [21 U.S.C. § 353(b)(1)(A)] for some of the claims made for them because, in light of their toxicity or other potentiality for harmful effect, the method of their use, or the collateral measures necessary to their use, they are not safe for use except under the supervision of a practitioner licensed by law to administer it.
“Since I started diffusing essential oils in my classroom two months ago I’ve noticed my energy level improving and my students are always excited to come to class and see what our room will smell like each day. I have started to use homemade cleaners in my classroom to keep us both healthy and safe. I feel confident that I am doing good for myself and my kids by using Young Living essential oils each day.” – Steph C.

#6. Ultrasonic Diffusing – An ultrasonic diffuser uses air, water, and ultrasonic vibrations to diffuse the oil into the air. A fine mist is created and released into the air, so it doubles as a humidifier. The concentration of essential oils is gentler since water is used. This method allows the oil molecules to remain air-bound for several hours and does not affect the structure or therapeutic value of the oil. You can use several oils together, for instance frankincense and sandalwood. Two or more oils are better than one, because the phytochemicals in each oil offer different healing properties.

As Young Living grew, former employees told me, reining in Young’s spending became an issue. At the company’s showcase farm, in Mona, Utah, Young built replicas of a Wild West town and a medieval castle. As “Sir Gary,” he hosted tournaments, in which he donned a suit of armor and competed in jousting events. He had plans drawn up for a two-hundred-and-fifty-million-dollar theme park, Mount Youngmore, which would feature jousting, a five-star hotel, and a mountain with Young’s face etched on it. (Young has denied this.) “It was just crazy what they were trying to build out there,” David Stirling, then Young Living’s chief operating officer, told me. Stirling said he was also alarmed by a video he saw of Young, whose only medical degree is a doctorate in naturopathy from an unaccredited school, performing gallbladder surgery and giving essential oils intravenously at the clinic in Ecuador. Stirling attempted to shift Young Living’s focus away from Young to the oils, but he met with resistance from Young—and also from many distributors, who felt a deep loyalty to Gary and Mary.
Herbs have long been used as the basis of traditional Chinese herbal medicine, with usage dating as far back as the first century CE and far before. In India, the Ayurveda medicinal system is based on herbs. Medicinal use of herbs in Western cultures has its roots in the Hippocratic (Greek) elemental healing system, based on a quaternary elemental healing metaphor. Famous herbalist of the Western tradition include Avicenna (Persian), Galen (Roman), Paracelsus (German Swiss), Culpepper (English) and the botanically inclined Eclectic physicians of 19th century/early 20th century America (John Milton Scudder, Harvey Wickes Felter, John Uri Lloyd). Modern pharmaceuticals had their origins in crude herbal medicines, and to this day, some drugs are still extracted as fractionate/isolate compounds from raw herbs and then purified to meet pharmaceutical standards.
This is a wonderful set, especially for the price! The oil blends in this set definitely are geared more towards relaxation, especially since most of them contain lavender. My favorites from this set include "Calm Body Calm Mind," which is a blend of French Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Sandalwood, Sweet Marjoram, Vanilla, and Ylang Ylang, and Harmony, which includes Bergamot, East Indian Sandalwood, Frankincense, French Lavender, Jasmine, Lemon, Palmarosa, Roman Chamomile, Sage, Sweet Orange, and Ylang Ylang.
Certain herbs contain psychoactive properties that have been used for both religious and recreational purposes by humans since the early Holocene era, notably the leaves and extracts of the cannabis and coca plants. The leaves of the coca plant have been chewed by people in northern Peruvian societies for over 8,000 years,[14] while the use of cannabis as a psychoactive substance dates back to the first century CE in China and northern Africa.[15]
You’d be surprised by the numerous benefits you can get from cilantro. First, it lowers blood sugar levels, fights against colon cancer, prevents neurological inflammation, promotes a healthy heart, protects against food poisoning, and supports healthy menstruation. Also, it prevents urinary tract infections, detoxifies the body of heavy metals, protects against oxidative stress, and improves sleep. And finally, it lowers anxiety, settles digestive issues, and soothes skin irritations.
Tea Tree Oil has a green, medicinal, woody scent that makes it a wonderful addition to DIY natural home cleaning products. This distinguished organic chemist shares his in depth knowledge of the particular current value of essential oils, for health on all levels. In an era when Western allopathic medicine has less and less appeal, this self-care method is a potent alternative, with roots going back to ancient times. Dr. Schaubelt has a gift for presenting facts and information in a way that is intriguing and easy to assimilate. In the flood of "coffee table" aromatherapy books currently available, this is a much needed and welcome source for those truly interested in taking responsiblity for their own health.

The healing benefits of frankincense have traditionally centered on disease prevention and anti-inflammatory properties, and researchers have been able to confirm that boswellic acids contain a potent ability to modify the immune system as well. Low temperature and low pressure play an important part of collecting the highest quality essential oil. When plant matter is placed into a chamber and steam is injected, the plant’s essential oil is released into the air. The steam and essential oil are carried out of the chamber and cooled. The oil and water are then allowed to separate for collection.
Maximize the benefits: To tame blood sugar, study subjects took 1 g capsules of standardized cinnamon extract daily, while those in the cholesterol study took 1 to 6 g. But keep in mind that a large amount of the actual spice can be dangerous, so stick with a water-soluble extract. Terry Graedon, PhD, coauthor with her husband, Joe, of Best Choices from the People's Pharmacy, recommends the brand Cinnulin PF.

I have tried 2 different brands – Doterra and Twenty8 essential oils. Twenty8 is based in New Zealand and is 100% organic (No petrochemicals, No chemicals, No artificial Colours, No artificial aromas, No mineral oils used in their products). Even after following dilution guide, Lavender oil of Doterra gives me and my husband bad headache. We love Twenty& oils and blends in diffuser and topical. The effect is evident and feels like it is a high quality product. Maybe because it is so well produced (organic, chemical free, etc) we smell and feel the difference. I have heard that based on the quality of irrigation (floods affecting country of origin of the oil production) affect the smell of oils. A regular or an expert person using it will smell the difference.
During this era, it is believed that Monks continued the healing tradition of using the best essential oils and secretly kept herbal medicine alive in the halls of their monasteries. Unfortunately, folk medicine was viewed as “witchcraft,” and many herbalists were either burned at the stake or persecuted. Thankfully, the Renaissance resurrected herbal medicine, and physicians such as Paracelsus challenged his medical colleagues with testimonials of successful treating life-threatening concerns like leprosy.
In 2000, the Utah Occupational Safety and Health Division (UOSHD) investigated an August 17, 2000, explosion of a distiller, fatally wounding a worker at Young Living Farms in Mona, Utah. UOSHD fined Young Living Farms $10,280 for seven safety violations, stating that "no consideration was given in the design and construction of distillation vessels with respect to American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) pertaining to design and construction of pressure vessels", and that "none of the pressure vessels are equipped with any type of pressure relieving device".[24]

This herbal healing oil contains a wonderful essential oil blend that cools, soothes, and heals minor to moderate injuries. You can put a dab on your throat, temples, between your brows, and on each cheekbone to help open congested sinuses and relieve pain. I have also used it this way for easing bronchitis and cough with great success. It’s definitely a staple for use during times of cold and flu.
Before administering any at home treatment, make sure the wound isn’t so severe that you need stitches or other professional medical help. If you do not require a doctor, you can use a natural home remedy of essential oils to heal cuts and abrasions. Start by cleaning the wounds area with water and a mild soap. You can also apply a little hydrogen peroxide to help remove all the dirt and foreign particles. Then gently dry with a clean towel. Depending on the type of oil you select add 1-2 to drops of the essential oil directly to the wound or add 1-2 drops into a healing carrier base like aloe vera or coconut oil. If possible massage the essential oils into the area gently with a clean towel. Then wrap with a bandage. Make sure to change out the bandage two times a day and reapply the essential oils until fully healed.

The Food and Drug Administration is charged with preventing sellers of alternative-health products from making unfounded medical claims. Without ample independent testing, companies can’t assert that their products prevent, diagnose, treat, or cure disease. They get around this by relying on abstract words like “vitality” and “balance,” and by talking in vague terms about general body systems or mild issues that don’t rise to the level of disease. Young Living and doTerra have attorneys on staff to insure that product descriptions are within legal bounds.
Spikenard, and it’s spiritual essential oil, have been utilized since ancient times as a medicine for curing heart diseases, intellectual disabilities, urine-related problems, insomnia etc. Famed Ayurvedic healer charaka and “father of surgery” Sushruta incorporated spikenard in many medicinal essential oils, prescribed for edema, hemorrhoids, arthritis, gout, fractures, and obstinate skin diseases, mostly for external application.

These five oils are powerful in helping treat cuts and abrasions; however you have to make sure that when you are using essential oils for their healing properties you are using 100% pure oil extracted from the plants. Some essential oils are just perfume oils that use synthetic chemicals and carrier oils in a blend to mimic essential oils. These do not provide any real healing properties and can actually irritate the skin when applied topically. So make sure that when building your essential oil first aid kit you use real essential oils like those found at Organic Aromas. Our oils are made of 100% natural, organic plant sources and provide the full healing benefit for cuts and abrasions. DoTerra positions itself as friendly and transparent, selling oils as something between a home remedy and a craft project. The company’s social-media posts encourage a D.I.Y. approach to health: “Rosemary supports healthy digestion and internal organ function. Next time you’re creating a pizza masterpiece, add a drop of Rosemary to gain these benefits!” One of its best-sellers is a kit called Family Essentials, which includes lavender (“take internally to reduce anxious feelings”) and lemon (“to clean tables, countertops, and other surfaces”). Where Young Living had emphasized oils’ mystic qualities, with talk of energy fields and harmonic frequencies, doTerra’s marketing made oils seem like a normal part of any family’s medicine cabinet. The company’s friendly tone and Pinterest-ready suggestions were soon the dominant mode for spreading the message about oils. Today, Young Living’s and doTerra’s social-media posts are virtually indistinguishable; both feature empowering slogans (“You are beautiful, inside and out”; “You’re like really pretty”), flower petals, and smiling babies.

In addition to being one of the best spiritual essential oils, the plant has a rich history of medicinal use and has been valued for centuries in Ayurvedic (Indian) and Unani (ancient Greco-Arab) systems of medicine. The rhizomes of the plant are used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine as a bitter tonic, stimulant, anti-spasmodic, and to treat hysteria, convulsions, and epilepsy. The root has been medically used to treat insomnia as well as blood, circulatory, and mental disorders.

Some oils, like clary sage, geranium and thyme, help to balance out estrogen and progesterone levels in your body, which can improve conditions like infertility and PCOS, as well as PMS and menopause symptoms. A 2017 published in Neuro Endocrinology Letters indicates that some essential oils, notably geranium and rose, have the ability to influence the salivary concentration of estrogen in women. This may be helpful for women who are experiencing menopausal symptoms that are caused by declining levels of estrogen secretion. (2)

There’s no wonder why, considering the high cost of healthcare bills and the side effects of conventional medications, adding essential oils to your personal medicine cabinet can make a world of difference. This is especially true because essential oils benefits are vast and their uses range from aromatherapy, household cleaning products, personal beauty care and natural medicine treatments.

These scents are all wonderful. And they are all strong enough that if you sniff them out of the bottle they may singe your nose haha. My favorite is probably sweet orange, but they all have useful medicinal purposes. If anyone in my house gets a head or chest cold I am sure the eucalyptus will be used. The peppermint seems to have a positive impact on my sinuses. I actually just used some of the tea tree oil for a hair and skin care recipe using olive oil and essential oils. It worked out very well, especially for my skin. I tend to have very dry, irritated skin in the winter time, and lotions just don't seem to help for very long. I started using olive oil and then thought, why not try adding the essential oils in the recipe? You can tell the difference between just using olive oil versus using olive oil mixed with this tea tree oil. Therefore, while the olive oil works great, the tea tree oil from this sampler definitely adds to the positive effect it has on my skin.

The Eucalyptus tree, or Eucalyptus Globulus, is native to Australia. The essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of this evergreen. Eucalyptus has been used for hundred of years for a wide variety of things; from protecting teeth against cavities, to helping with asthma and other respiratory ailments, or even treating lice, this colorless essential oil is an effective treatment for a myriad of things, including the treatment of scars.

But if you're really trying to make your hair grow super-fast, you can't only use hair oil. In a perfect world, that'd be amazing, but the truth is, healthy hair growth is an inside-out process. You have to supplement these oils with good habits like filling your body with lots of lean, plant-based protein, being gentle with your hair, using the right tools, shampooing less, brushing consistently, and rinsing your locks with cold water weekly. Once you do that, while regularly using one of these eight oils (which have the most rave reviews!), you'll see length in no time. Mermaid locks, here you come.
Oils’ rising popularity is part of the contemporary appetite for wellness, an embrace of holistic healthy-living practices ranging from the low key (meditation) to the wacky (Brain Dust, a forty-dollar jar of adaptogenic herbs and mushrooms that promises to “align you with the cosmic flow for great achievement”). Wellness is often dismissed as frivolity, another way for wealthy white women to spend money and obsess about their bodies. But you’re just as likely to find essential oils in a small-town drugstore in the Midwest as in an organic market in L.A., and their appeal is often less about indulgence than about anxiety. “I am concerned about antibiotic resistance, emerging viruses, and the risks posed by chronic disease,” the herbalist Cat Ellis writes in her book “Prepper’s Natural Medicine: Life-Saving Herbs, Essential Oils and Natural Remedies for When There Is No Doctor.” For many consumers, essential oils represent a purer and more ancient form of medicine, one with Biblical overtones—all those scriptural references to anointing—and none of the baggage of the contemporary health-care system. (Wellness-focussed Web sites are more likely to cite oils’ centuries of use in Ayurvedic medicine.) Like homeschooling, beekeeping, and canning, the use of essential oils crosses the political spectrum and speaks to a common desire for increased self-sufficiency—or, more darkly, a fear of imminent institutional collapse. Many of the products available from Goop, Paltrow’s posh wellness emporium, are also for sale on Infowars, Alex Jones’s alt-right conspiracy-theory Web site.

Aromatherapy, treating skin conditions, soothing muscle inflammation… the benefits of essential oils abound. "Essential oils can be used in personal care products, in home cleaning products, for general well-being in the context of emotional support, and many other ways," says Avery. This versatility also extends to the scents themselves. "Some of the most popular essential oils, like lavender and sweet orange, cross over into many categories and can be used effectively for many applications," she says.
